You should really be able to set a channel variable in the dialplan just
before you handle the call with <action application="set"
data="absolute_codec_string=PCMA at 20i"/> which will set the a-leg codecs and
ptimes, then in the bridge add absolute_codec_string=${global_codec_prefs}
to set the codecs to use on the b-leg.
