I know in my direct relationship with one of the major LRN providers it's in our contract that we do not cache the results - in my tests with porting numbers from carrier x to carrier y the LRN DB is updated in less then 60 min's after the port has completed and released on our network.

If you're doing a lot of lookups that can save you a lot of money. Your routing won't be 100% accurate, but the lnp providers are probably serving you from a cache too anyway.
