Tim,

you can transcode only if you have  G729 licenses and you use  
mod_com_g729.

As math said, show channels will show you any issues, and also, as I  
told you earlier:
grep ERR freeswitch.log | grep mod_g729
would show if you attempted to transcode with mod_g729.
