Guru,

this would need to be confirmed, but as far as I remember, the regular  
Cisco 7940 POE is not compatible with the standard POE implemented in  
all switches.
You would need to get a Cisco switch, supporting Cisco's non-standard  
POE implementation.

I think this was fixed in the Cisco 7941.
