Giovanni,
There are some alternatives that I haven't tried yet but might work for you
if you have the time to test them.
1) Instead of skypopen you can try sip2sis (
http://www.mhspot.com/sts/siptosis.html). I managed to use it with
freeswitch once.
2) Download the version of skype you found on softpedia and convert the deb
file to a rpm package with 'alien'
