Ah, a philosophical question. :)

In FreeSWITCH an "extension" is something in the dialplan, whereas an
endpoint usually means a physical endpoint, like a phone. Sometimes we throw
the words around loosely, so don't let that confuse you.

Just curious - what lead up to this question?
