[Freeswitch-users] Instant Message Gateway

It many not send messages if manage presence is disabled, but you  
would have to check that to be sure.  I don't think we have a setting  
specifically to turn IM handling on and off, but it would be easy  
enough to add.  We gladly accept patches at http://jira.freeswitch.org.
